I’ve known Mike Bowen since we were kids in middle school, having met through our church youth group. Even though Mike and I both grew up in an affluent community, you could always tell he didn’t pay much attention to materialism and marched to his own drum.
Fast forward to the present day and Mike is living in his adventure van in Bend, Oregon. It’s a perfect fit if you know him.
I’ve seen how much Mike has progressed with the photojournalistic style of his adventures and thought he would be a fantastic guest to have on the podcast with a unique twist on his views of photography that we’ve grown accustomed to.
In our discussion, Mike and I speak about how he discovered he had depression and his journey through it. We also talk about why he prefers to limit himself in the photography gear he uses to enhance his creativity in the field. Lastly, I wanted to get Mike’s take on Leave No Trace principles since he has a background in taking groups on adventures.
