For years Alyce Bender and I have been periodically exchanging comments back and forth on social media. It wasn’t until a recent video interview I did with her on Outdoor Photography Guide that we were able to meet virtually and set up this podcast. Low and behold, one month later we were together at the Outsiders Conference in Kanab, Utah.

It truly is a small world.

I was really looking forward to chatting with Alyce about her journey in photography and her nomadic lifestyle, only securing a home base for a couple of years at a time. I’ve respected Alyce’s work for quite some time and her journey into photography has been a lifelong adventure.

In this edition of The Landscape Photography Show, Alyce Bender and I talk about:

  • Her journey leading into photography

  • Having her interests fostered from a young age

  • Where she spent all of her allowance

  • Why Japan holds such a large place in her heart

  • How a military background continues to help her today

  • And more!
