TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Teaching photography has always been what drives David Johnston. “Even if I’m out shooting by myself, I’m thinking about how I can teach someone else to do what I’m doing and give them a glimpse into my mind,” David says. When it comes to speaking to photography groups, David uses knowledge he’s gained from his time in the field and from leading landscape photography workshops. While landscape photography has basic composition guidelines, David does his best to push those rules to the edge to see how to turn a basic landscape into a more creative experience.
During his speaking presentations, David engages and encourages his audiences to get out and experience the outdoors with a camera. Photography is meant to be fun, and his presentations reflect his passion for landscape photography. David also has a talent for delivering information to large audiences due to his experience in podcasting, creating video courses, YouTube, and through teaching photography workshops. After a speaking presentation, a photography group will be filled with new creative ideas and energy to craft their own compelling photographs.
